Reminiscences of Richard Lathers is a memoir written by Alvan F. Sanborn in 1907. The book chronicles the life of Richard Lathers, a prominent businessman and politician, over a span of sixty years. Lathers was born in South Carolina and later moved to Massachusetts and New York, where he made a name for himself in the construction industry. The book provides a detailed account of Lathers' life, including his early years in the South, his move to the North, and his rise to success in the construction business. It also covers his involvement in politics, including his role as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1860. Throughout the book, Sanborn provides insights into Lathers' personality and character, as well as his relationships with other prominent figures of the time, including Abraham Lincoln and William H. Seward. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of the United States during the 19th century, as well as those interested in the construction industry and the role of politics in shaping the country's development. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
