Reign Mercer: The Severence

He doesn't remember what he did. Everyone else knows more than they're telling him.

Fourteen-year-old Reign Mercer wakes in the infirmary at Brightmore Academy with two years missing from his memory.

He is older than he remembers. His friends look different. His hands are dangerous unless covered. And everyone around him seems afraid of what he might remember next.

Before losing his memories, Reign had been investigating secrets buried beneath the school-ancient binding marks, forbidden magic, and a powerful relic known as the Nightvein. Whatever he found changed him. It left one student unable to wake, and someone cut two full years from Reign's mind.

Now the memories are beginning to return.

A flash of rain.

A locked chamber beneath the school.

A pale-haired stranger who knows more than he should.

And the terrible possibility that Reign wasn't merely involved in what happened. He may have caused it.

Reign found a warning in his own handwriting: Don't trust them.

With Chase, the loyal best friend who refuses to give up on him, and Kendall, whose sharp eyes miss almost nothing, Reign begins pulling at the edges of the mystery buried beneath Brightmore. Along the way, he must contend with troublesome birds, enchanted furniture, unpredictable magic, and adults determined to protect him from the truth.

The deeper Reign digs, the harder it becomes to separate the boy he is now from the boy he used to be.

Funny, fast-paced, and full of heart, Reign Mercer: The Severance is a fantasy mystery about magic, friendship, loyalty, hidden secrets, and one boy's fight to decide who he will become.

Perfect for readers ages twelve and up who enjoy magical schools, dangerous mysteries, clever friends, and stories where not every grown-up is telling the truth.
