I began writing these events down the day my son brought a baby burrowing owl home.
Reggie, as we called him, lived with us for about a year and a half and never ceased to amaze us.
The burrowing owl is just one of nature's many extraordinary and beautiful creatures.
Obviously, a burrowing owl ought to live in the wild and not in captivity. But what else can you do when a lost and helpless baby burrowing owl chick arrives at your doorstep?
Well, I'll tell you that and more. This is the story about how one, little orphaned burrowing owl brought five children and their parents together on a mission to care for him as best they could. And in doing so learned that--there's no such thing as an ordinary day with a burrowing owl around.
Though our days revolved around Reggie, it is the unique way Reggie impacted our once ordinary lives and those around us which makes this story so special.
