Recollections of Washington Gladden is a book written by Washington Gladden, a prominent American Congregationalist minister and social reformer. The book is a memoir that recounts Gladden's life and experiences, including his childhood, his education, his ministry, and his involvement in various social and political causes.Gladden was a leading figure in the social gospel movement, which sought to apply Christian principles to social issues such as poverty, labor rights, and racial equality. He was also a strong advocate for temperance and prohibition, and played a key role in the anti-saloon movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In his memoir, Gladden reflects on his personal journey and the challenges he faced in pursuing his beliefs and advocating for social justice. He also provides insights into the social and political climate of his time, including the rise of industrialization and the challenges it posed to workers and communities.Overall, Recollections of Washington Gladden offers a fascinating glimpse into the life and work of one of America's most influential social reformers, and provides valuable insights into the history of the social gospel movement and the fight for social justice in the United States. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
