This study focuses on the history of reading clubs and libraries within the Padre Anchieta and Lívio Amorim School Groups in the municipality of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina (1946-1956), within the context of the regulation of primary education in Santa Catarina and the establishment of school support associations in the state's school groups through Decree No. 3,735 of 1946. Based on the regulation of these associations, I sought to understand the reading practices developed in the reading clubs of the Padre Anchieta and Lívio Amorim school groups, in order to gain an insight into school cultures as prescribed by Decree No. 3,735. The analysis was conducted on the basis of the minutes of the associations established at that time. In addition to these, I analysed the following documents: Decree-Law No. 2,991; Circular Letter No. 42/44; Decree-Law No. 8,529/46; Decree-Law No. 298 (1946); Decree No. 3,732 (1946) and Decree No. 3,735/46.
