Raymund Lully: Illuminated Doctor, Alchemist and Christian Mystic is a book written by Arthur Edward Waite that explores the life and teachings of Raymund Lully, a 13th-century Christian philosopher and mystic. The book delves into Lully's background, including his upbringing in Spain and his conversion to Christianity, as well as his travels throughout Europe and his interactions with various religious and philosophical figures of his time. The book also examines Lully's work as an alchemist, focusing on his beliefs about the transmutation of metals and the attainment of spiritual enlightenment through the practice of alchemy. Additionally, Waite explores Lully's writings on Christian mysticism, including his views on the nature of God and the soul, and his methods for achieving spiritual union with the divine. Throughout the book, Waite offers his own insights and interpretations of Lully's teachings, drawing on his own background as a scholar of esotericism and the occult. The result is a comprehensive and engaging portrait of one of the most important figures in the history of Christian mysticism and alchemy. There are few names in mediaeval literature and in the history of its philosophical thought, around which has gathered a more curious woof of legend confused with fact than the name of Raymund Lully.
