The Radcliffes of Leigh Lancashire: A Family Memorial is a book written by Evelyn M. Darlington and published in 1918. The book is a comprehensive account of the Radcliffe family, who were prominent landowners and politicians in Leigh, Lancashire, England. The author traces the family's history from their earliest known ancestor, John de Radcliffe, in the 13th century, to their contemporary descendants in the early 20th century. The book includes detailed genealogical information, as well as anecdotes and stories about the family's notable members, including Sir Alexander Radcliffe, who served as Lord Mayor of London in the 16th century, and Sir Joseph Heron Radcliffe, who was a Member of Parliament in the 19th century. The author also provides insights into the family's connections to other prominent families in the region, such as the Hultons and the Byroms. The Radcliffes of Leigh Lancashire: A Family Memorial is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of the Radcliffe family or the social and political history of Lancashire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
