Rachel Ray is a novel written by Anthony Trollope, first published in 1863. The story is set in the small English town of Baslehurst and follows the life of Rachel Ray, a young woman who works as a dressmaker. Rachel is a kind-hearted and hardworking person, who is admired by many in the town, including Luke Rowan, a young man who has come to Baslehurst to set up a brewery.Luke and Rachel become close friends, but their relationship is complicated by the interference of Mrs. Tappitt, the wife of a local brewer who is jealous of Luke's success. Mrs. Tappitt spreads rumors about Rachel and tries to convince Luke to marry her daughter, who she believes would be a better match for him.As the story unfolds, Rachel faces many challenges in her personal and professional life, including financial difficulties and the disapproval of her family over her friendship with Luke. However, she remains steadfast in her beliefs and values, and ultimately finds happiness and success in her own way.Rachel Ray is a classic example of Victorian literature, with its focus on social norms and values, and its exploration of the complexities of human relationships. Trollope's vivid descriptions of the town and its inhabitants create a rich and compelling world that draws the reader in and keeps them engaged until the very end.Oh, Dolly, do not speak with that terrible voice, as though the world were coming to an end, '' she said, in answer to the first note of objurgation that was uttered; but the notes that came afterwards were so much more terrible, so much more severe, that Rachel found herself quite unable to stop them by any would-be joking tone. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
