Rabbit the Dog has a very interesting bedtime story. Instead of looking at a book with pictures in it, she must use her imagination. In fact, her human dad tells the start and end of the story about the magic garden, but Rabbit has to tell the middle of the story. (What she sees and hears in the garden.) This basic guided imagery technique helps Rabbit relax and flushes the stress of the day from her mind before she goes to sleep.

Thus, this story promotes phonetic awareness, builds vocabulary, and is useful as a transition from picture book to early reader. It also facilitates educational discussions and awareness.
