I have been asked what the difference is between our translation and A. Yusuf Ali's translation. So I placed the two translations side by side. Because no translation of the Quran is anywhere near perfect, we believe that those who can, should compile their own unique book containing the best translations that the world has to offer. This of course involves studying the Quran in Arabic, which is now easier than ever, and requires learning from others. As we all discover better translations, our work should be share with others. This book is based on a collection of our favorite translations and interpretations written by scholars and students from the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Some verses are based on scholarly work by A. Yusef Ali, Imam W. Deen Mohammed, Muhammad Asad, M. M. Pickthall, and others-including translators found at IslamAwakened.com. Other verses are based on new translations and interpretations submitted by devoted students of the Quran. And still other verses are a combination of both historical and contemporary translations.
