MORE THAN FRIENDSHIP
Obadiah Brenneman and Clara Rose Yutzy have been friends since grade school. Their relationship is unusual, but they both can recognize that a good friend is so important in life, regardless of gender. They've never had any romantic feelings for each other, until Clara Rose tells Obie that she's getting married. Once that news is out, Obie realizes that he can't let Clara Rose marry another. To Clara Rose, life couldn't be more wonderful and she's having a hard time understanding what's gotten into Obie. He's picking arguments with her over nothing. Worse than that, he starts telling her that she shouldn't marry Thomas! Never mind that Clara Rose has been having second thoughts lately-mainly because she thinks she might have stronger feelings for Obie. But they have an understanding: they are just friends.
What can he do to convince her that Thomas isn't the man she should marry? Is there a way to turn their relationship into more than a friendship? Or has he simply waited too late to tell her that he loves her?
MORE THAN A PROMISE
After years of marriage, Mariana Miller and her husband Leroy have not been blessed with children. At forty-two she has long since settled herself to the fact that she won't have any kids of her own.
Then Leroy dies, just as Mariana finds out that she's pregnant. She's confused and heartbroken as she tries to figure out how to support herself and her baby. She'll need to put her trust in God. She'll manage. She's got her good friends in the quilting circle and her husband's best friend and business partner, Reuben Weisel.
Reuben is glad to step up and help Mariana. Then when she is forced to go on bedrest, he does what he can to help her pass the days until the baby is born.
After spending so much time together, Reuben confesses his love for Mariana. She has started to have feelings for him as well. When he proposes, she tells him yes.
Then Mariana finds a letter that Leroy wrote to Reuben asking him to care for her after he dies. Reuben's feelings aren't real, just part of a promise he had made to his best friend.
But Reuben really does love her, perhaps he always has. Now how can he prove his love for her is true and more than just a promise?

Tess Smiley is new to Wells Landing having just moved there from their sister settlement in Clarita, Oklahoma. Though she's hours away from her childhood friends and her family, she's willing to make the best of her new start with her husband, Jacob.
But this new beginning isn't going as she imagined it would. They are having to rent a property and barely have enough land for her to house her small trip of goats. Jacob longs to farm the land but instead has had to take a job with an English company which has supplied him with a cell phone. Tess hates that phone. She and Jacob used to play games together and visit with their friends and family. Now all he wants to do is play on his phone. He even has a Facebook account! He says it's for work, but Tess has her doubts.
Finally, she can take no more. She leaves Jacob and moves in with her quilting circle friend, Clara Rose. Even away from Jacob she can find no peace.
Jacob hates Tess being away from him, but it seems that no matter what he does, he can't please her.
