Pulling Threads is a book written to help readers of all ages read. It is a simple story in a familiar location. The sketch on the canvas is there. It is up to the reader to add the colors they see and fill in the picture as they imagine it.
This is a coming of age story that takes place at Anzaldua University, a fictional school in the Northeast of the USA that was founded to help society understand borders. The story centers around a Critical Thinking class at a Liberal Arts university where the students are taught to pull threads and see what unravels.
During the course of the story the characters find themselves in normal everyday situations and spend time working through them by building community and accepting each other as they are despite their differences.
We all wear different hats and lead double or triple or more lives. We are mothers or husbands or teachers or athletes or foreigners. We should learn to stop defining each other based on our differences and connect with each other more based on our similarities. We all want love and the freedom to be the best version of ourselves as we define it. Pulling Threads aims to be that story.
