It seems the other plants each have a special something that makes shoppers want to take them home. Unfortunately for cactus Prickly, no one wants to look past his sharp exterior to see all he has to offer.... Will he be left behind on the shelf forever? Or is there a place where even a prickly personality can belong? This informative and funny early reader kids picture book features 40 pages of hand painted watercolor illustrations showcasing a variety of identified flowers, herbs, berries, houseplants, and succulents. It is the perfect story to build interest in plants and gardening while exploring the social issues of belonging, being appreciated despite seeming differences, and dealing with difficult personalities.A favorite read aloud bedtime story for parents and children (both boys and girls) who are garden lovers, cactus fans, interested in plants, familiar with a prickly personality, and anyone who knows what it's like to want to find a place to belong and be appreciated for who you are.
