In 1928, Stacy Wilderness shows up at a farmer's field and takes her first flight in a Curtiss Jenny. Soon she is taking lessons from her instructor, ex WWI pursuit pilot Captain Jeff Bledsoe. Some 70,000 words later she finally gets her pilot's license. Along the way there are many diversions about piloting skills, aviation history, women aviators, queer romances, roller derby, the circus, barnstorming, and living in prohibition era Midwest America among many topics.

The author is a queer woman who holds a pilot's license and has had a life-long interest in Golden Age Aviation among her many varied interests. Hopefully with this novel she can share her love of flying with other queer readers, who may one day go on to get their own pilot's license and experience the thrill of aviation for themselves.
