Polaris Investigation recounts the harrowing tale of the U.S. Navy's ambitious Arctic expedition aboard the ship 'Polaris' in 1871. Undertaken with scientific and exploratory objectives, the voyage quickly descended into disaster following the death of the expedition's leader, Charles Francis Hall, and the subsequent fracturing of the crew.
This historical document details the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the expedition's misfortunes, including the alleged poisoning of Hall and the struggles for survival endured by the crew after being separated from the 'Polaris'. The investigation reveals the challenges of Arctic exploration, the complexities of human relationships under extreme duress, and the burgeoning scientific endeavors of the 19th century. 'Polaris Investigation' serves as a valuable primary source for understanding Arctic exploration, naval history, and the pursuit of scientific knowledge in a perilous environment.
