Pointer and the Russian CIA agent Robert Pointer faces the biggest challenge of his career-thwarting a Russian Colonel bent on starting World War III. Pointer finds himself next door neighbor to Senator and Mrs. Jack Kennedy in Georgetown, the start of a friendship that leads both men to duty in the White House. Meanwhile, the Russian, a former aristocrat in Tsarist Russia, is disillusioned by the Communist regime and is bent on its destruction. Problem is he believes the way to victory is to start a nuclear exchange between the Superpowers. The denouement pits Pointer against the Russian in the chilling days of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Pointer and the Russian relives historical events such as the abdication and murder of Tsar Nicholas II and his family, the murder of Rasputin and an inside view of the tense days leading up to the Cuban Missile Crisis. Praise for Pointer's War (author's first novel). If you enjoy historical fiction, this is one of the best. Wonderful mixture of history, love story and quick-paced thriller. Launches a very clever hero in Pointer with power, humility, and great wit. This book is incredible. Gripping from beginning to end. I read it quickly, staying up to see how it would end. Addictive! Riveting read. Move over Ken Follett.
