While tending bar at one of Atlanta's distinguished eateries, the author set down his notebook. A guest, enjoying dinner and wine, picked up the book and laboriously thumbed through the dog-eared pages. She finished the entirety of the notebook in one setting. The author was amazed and inspired. If one sitting at the bar; among the chatter and clamor, could enjoy these poems, then anyone could. Soon thereafter, Poems For A Barfly was born.These poems call upon a vast array of inspirations: the Black condition, the eternal questions of love and the transitory nature of life. It is a collection of snapshots; the artists' goal is to capture a moment, and all its beautiful ugliness, with hopes that something universal can be found. Herein lies a collection of poems spanning multiple decades, lifetimes and realities.
