Pip & Flip: Happy Birthday
Pip is a sky-blue duckling. Flip is an orange frogling. They don't look like the others-and that's what makes them special.
Today is Pip's birthday, and he wakes up bursting with excitement. But when he runs to find Flip and the other pond animals, everyone seems... busy. Flip says he can't play. Tully the turtle is struggling with a very important leaf. The others hurry away without even saying happy birthday.
Did they all forget Pip's special day?
What Pip doesn't know is that, behind the willow tree, his friends are secretly working together on a big surprise: a leaf-cake, glowing fireflies, colorful ribbons, and a clever little trail of clues made from blue feathers, orange pebbles, and shiny shells. Step by step, Pip follows the birthday treasure hunt toward the best gift of all-feeling seen, remembered, and loved.
This gentle, heartwarming picture book is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers and explores:
Birthdays & celebrations - what makes a birthday special and how we show love
Friendship & feelings - feeling left out, then discovering you are cared for
Kindness & teamwork - every friend (slow, shy, different) has something important to do
Colors, shapes, and clues - red, yellow, blue, orange; pebbles, feathers, shells, and simple treasure hunt thinking
Counting & simple numbers - counting years, counting clues, sharing the cake so everyone gets a slice
With short, cozy text and warm, friendly illustrations set around a calm European-style pond, Pip & Flip: Happy Birthday is ideal for:
Birthday gifts and party read-alouds
Bedtime stories and cuddle time
Early learning about emotions, sharing, and gratitude
The Pip & Flip series celebrates one simple idea:
Different colors, same splash.
Every child is unique. Every feeling matters. And every birthday is brighter when you celebrate it together.
