Philotus is a comedic play written by Robert Charteris. The play revolves around the story of Philotus, a young and handsome man who is in love with a woman named Melissa. However, Melissa is already engaged to another man, and Philotus is left heartbroken. In an attempt to win Melissa's heart, Philotus hatches a plan with his friend, who disguises himself as a woman to infiltrate Melissa's household. Chaos ensues as the characters navigate their way through mistaken identities and romantic entanglements. The play is set in ancient Greece and features a cast of colorful characters, including a cunning servant and a bumbling suitor. With its witty dialogue and lively plot, Philotus is a classic example of Renaissance comedy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
