Portraits of every living Nobel Laureate in the year 2000

In 2000 German photographer Peter Badge (born 1974) embarked on a long-term project to photograph every living Nobel Laureate. Commissioned by the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, and the Deutsches Museum, and cofunded by the Klaus Tschira Stiftung, this project has taken Badge across the globe to the laureates' homes, labs, workplaces and even holiday destinations.

His subjects include Elie Wiesel, Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Doris Lessing, Saul Bellow, J.M. Coetzee, Nadine Gordimer, Harold Pinter, Malala Yousafzai and Elinor Ostrom. Peter Badge shows us the wonderful gifts that make Nobel Laureates unique--and how they help us connect our interesting differences to our common humanity, writes Bill Clinton of these images.
