The essence of this book is that with the courage to speak up, you have the power to effect positive changes. A couple of times when Patience voices her opinion the reader thinks, oh no, that probably wasn't a good idea while at the same time saying, good for you.
NEW EXPERIENCES ARE NOT EASYPatience Honey Caputo is eleven and small for her age, which is another way of saying she's cute. Being cute means that Patience has endured a lifetime of head-pats and cheek-pinches and has hated every minute of it. Now that she is starting middle school, and almost a teenager, Patience expects her life will finally change. And life does change, but not in the way Patience imagines.
The first day of school is a disaster from the moment the bus arrives. Her best friend seems like a stranger. The stupid school is a confusing maze of round buildings, and Patience gets lost. Then her plan to join the school's newspaper is ruined when Patience clashes with the editor - a big mistake that will haunt Patience all year.
Told with humor and heart, Patience is Waiting is the story of a girl trying to figure out what to do, when she doesn't know what to do.
Book #1 in the Patience in Progress series.
