Authored by Amruta Dongray, PASTPRESENT is a book of verses. These verses are her 'take' on socio-political, economic and environmental issues. Amruta conveys her messages through commonplace objects, people and the environment. A reader describes her writing as simple to understand... reality with rhythm. While Amruta was comfortably placed in the role of a wife, a mother and a homemaker, the comforts that were handed to her made her increasingly uncomfortable, leading to, as she describes it erosion of her intelligence. Having grown up with the teachings of how man needs to experience the new, learn and evolve, a four-year-long period of abundance and thus, stagnation, brought her to the brink of unhappiness. She thanks Dr. Diwan, a friend, for gently waking her up from her forced hibernation. In her poem 'Cycle' she says...'not only did the two-wheeler mock me for not knowing how to cycle, but also made me question how long will it be before I master the art of balancing daily life...balancing emotions, mind, body and soul.
