3rd edition. In this third book of the trilogy, Maim and Maude finally meet up. There are bullets between them.

Before the bullets, a joker-type of person makes fun of Maim. He goes too far when he makes fun of Maime of the Diamond X ranch. Steph, the joker, ends up with shattered elbows, wrists, and knees.

Maim finally finds the love he feels is forever. Maime, the honcho of the Diamond X, falls head over heels in love with Maim. It is reciprocated. The two decided to be husband and wife in a common-law marriage but get an official marriage when an itinerant preacher shows up in town.

During her search to catch Maim, Maude has become an assassin for hire. When she finds out he is at the Diamond X, Maude informally hires herself to assassinate Maim. Her bullet misses. The attempt alerts Maim to the fact that Maude is in the area.

Steph had a brother. The browser went on a revenge hunt to find Maim. He did find him and shot at him. But he missed. The brother's bullet found Maime instead.

Maim is alone again. And he's on the prowl. Maude must be stopped. Maim will never be safe with Maude on the loose.

They hunt each other. Maim hunts Maude. Maude hunts Maim. Only one will survive.

Maude creates a trap to catch Maim, something intended to maim him yet let him live for a day or more for a slow death.

But the trap didn't quite work as she thought.

That is one of the surprises in store for your entertainment and vicarious reading experience.

(The first book of the trilogy talks about Maim's adventures after his escape from the person who had purchased him. The second talks about Maude and the events she gets involved in during her hunt for Maim. With this third book, you'll find out the astounding outcome of their meetup.)
