Purpose & Decree: Discovering the Objectives of the Religion through a Contemplative Reading on Juz 'Amma is a transformative reflection on the foundational message of the Qur'an through the powerful Makkan surahs of Juz 'Amma.
Rather than approaching Islam as a collection of rituals detached from purpose, this work seeks to reconnect readers with the higher objectives of revelation: understanding Allah's lordship, recognizing the purpose of human existence, cultivating moral consciousness, preparing for the Hereafter, and restoring spiritual clarity in an age of distraction, materialism, and ideological confusion.
Through a thematic and contemplative reading of the Qur'an, the book explores how the earliest revelations transformed individuals, challenged oppressive systems, purified the human soul, and built a civilization rooted in justice, mercy, accountability, and submission to God. Each surah is analyzed through reflections on purpose, morality, human nature, social corruption, transgression, spirituality, and the relationship between dunya (the worldly life) and akhirah (the Hereafter).
The book bridges classical Islamic thought with contemporary realities facing Muslims today, including materialism, secularism, ideological confusion, superficial religiosity, loss of purpose, and the neglect of spirituality and moral transformation. It calls readers to move beyond ritualistic religion toward deep contemplation (tafakkur), remembrance (tadhakkur), purification (tazkiyyah), and meaningful submission to Allah.
Drawing from Qur'anic reflection, Prophetic guidance, and holistic Islamic thinking, Purpose & Decree presents Islam as a comprehensive framework for personal development, ethical living, intellectual clarity, leadership, and civilizational renewal.
Topics explored throughout the book include:
- The purpose of creation and human existence
- The reality of the Day of Judgment
- Taqwa, accountability, and moral consciousness
- The distinction between temporary worldly success and eternal success
- The dangers of transgression, heedlessness, and ideological corruption
- The role of revelation in restoring human nature (fitrah)
- The relationship between reason, reflection, and revelation
- The Makkan foundations of faith and character
- The objectives behind worship and Islamic practice
- The prophetic methodology of reform and transformation
- Spiritual purification and overcoming worldly distractions
- The development of purposeful Islamic leadership and civilization
Written in an accessible yet intellectually engaging style, this book is intended for students of knowledge, educators, youth workers, community leaders, parents, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the Qur'an's transformative message.
Purpose & Decree is not merely a tafsir of Juz 'Amma. It is an invitation to rethink life, purpose, morality, success, and submission through the lens of divine revelation.
In a world overwhelmed by noise, distraction, and confusion, this book calls the reader back to clarity, reflection, responsibility, and the path back to Allah.
