The Purgatory, translated by Arthur John Butler, is the second part of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, following the Inferno and preceding the Paradiso. This epic poem, written in the early 14th century, presents an allegorical vision of the afterlife, focusing on the ascent through the levels of Mount Purgatory.
