Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos, also known as Quadripartite, is a book written by the ancient Greek astronomer and astrologer Ptolemy. It is divided into four books and discusses the influence of the stars on human affairs. The first book explains the fundamental principles of astrology, including the zodiac signs, planets, and houses. The second book focuses on the effects of the planets on human temperament and character. The third book discusses the effects of the planets on different aspects of life, such as marriage, children, and career. The fourth book deals with the prediction of events based on astrological principles. The translation by J.M. Ashmand provides a readable and accessible version of this classic work.Newly Translated from the Greek Paraphrase of Proclus with a Preface, Explanatory Notes and an Appendix Containing Extracts from the Almagest of Ptolemy and the whole of his Centiloquy together with A Short Notice of Mr. Ranger's Zodiacal Planisphere and an Explanatory Plate. Everything you could possibly hope to discover about the occult proficiency of astrology is contained in this rare and scarce book. The whole doctrine of astrology is commonly understood to have been completely overturned. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
