Africa has shaped its territory by drawing geopolitical borders, on the basis of which so-called 'modern' economic and social systems have gradually developed, to the detriment of traditional systems of natural resource governance. In Central Africa, the Sangha Tri-National Park is a prime example that brings together the protected areas of Lobéké (Cameroon), Nouabalé-Ndoki (Congo), and Dzangha-Sangha (CAR). It constitutes a transboundary area dedicated to biodiversity conservation under the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC).Today, anthropogenic pressures on biodiversity resulting from violations of protected areas warrant special attention. This attention draws upon international environmental law, which this book aims to make available to readers and policymakers. In light of this book, decision-makers are expected, for example, to effectively implement a legal instrument-harmonized among the three (3) states-concerning protected and shared species, particularly wildlife, to better ensure the protection of these species across international borders.
