Today, the majority of commentators remain utterly at sea when navigating Daniel's prophetic visions. This book answers that confusion by providing a robust preterist view of Daniel that stands in perfect harmony with parallel passages across Scripture, including Zechariah 14, Matthew 24, and Revelation.
While summarizing the core areas of agreement among conservative scholars, this study shines a spotlight on the book's most difficult sections (including Daniel 2, 7, 9, 11, and 12). By demonstrating how these prophecies look directly to the Roman period - the Fourth Kingdom that dominated Judea from 63 BC to AD 70 - it delivers an unshakeable framework for interpretation.
This preterist approach isn't a modern novelty. Championed by Calvin and traced back as early as Clement of Alexandria in AD 180, it remains the most historically consistent, scripturally unified interpretation available to the church.
R.J. Rushdoony once said there are four things liberals hate about Daniel: (1). Daniel displays a sovereign God who cannot be manipulated and who destroys all who rebel against His Law-Word, including civic rulers.(2). It showcases predictive prophecy that is infallible and sure.
(3). It illustrates a comprehensive Providence that governs even the tiniest details of life and history.
(4). It unapologetically presents the reality of miracles. You can judge an author by their attitude towards those four things in Daniel.
