A Profitable And Necessarye Doctryne, With Certayne Homelies Adioyned Therunto, published in 1555, offers a significant glimpse into the religious landscape of Tudor England. Authored by Edmund Bonner, Bishop of London, this volume presents core Christian teachings alongside a collection of homilies intended for public reading. The work reflects the theological debates and shifts of the mid-16th century, providing valuable insight into the religious practices and beliefs of the time.
Bonner's doctrines and homilies offer a window into the efforts to instruct and guide the populace in matters of faith. This historical document will appeal to scholars and readers interested in the Reformation, the history of the Church of England, and the religious literature of the early modern period.
