Excerpt: ... In view of the recent rule of the Supreme Court making motions for new trial unnecessary, we recommend: 1. A statute providing that no judgment shall be reversed for any error in the admission or exclusion of evidence, or in granting, refusal, or modifications of instructions, or in overruling or sustaining a motion, or for any other error, unless the record affirmatively shows that the specific ground of objection relied upon for reversal, was stated in the objection to the trial judge, and exception taken at that time to the ruling. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON LEGAL EDUCATION AND ADMISSION TO THE BAR. To the Mississippi State Bar Association: Your committee, appointed at the last annual meeting of the Association in May, 1912, on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar, beg leave to submit this report as the result of their conclusions on this important subject: An examination of the minutes of former meetings of this Association discloses the fact that the several committees which have heretofore been appointed to deal with this question have either neglected to make a report, or have confined their activities to making a brief report, suggesting the necessity of a higher standard of legal learning. Your committee is constrained to believe that the committees which have preceded it have so acted because of a lack of inclination to undertake to deal with so all important a subject as briefly as it will necessarily have to be dealt with in order not to trespass unduly upon the time of your other committees.
