Prism Phonics: I Love My . . . series
This book series is for students learning English. Prism Phonics is a color-assonant system which enables students to read without needing to know all the spelling rules. Blue letters make the /oo/ sound; red letters make the /eh/ sound. There are a total of 14 colors whose names represent the vowel sounds. Prism Phonics also makes reading easier for those with dyslexia.
Each book has two versions of the story: one in English using Prism Phonics and one in a foreign language in plain text. The ELD in the subtitle stands for English Learning Development which is specialized instruction in English for multilingual students. ELD was formerly called ESL (English Second Language). These books are intended to be read by a learner with a parent or teacher who understands the introductory material of how Prism Phonics aids decoding and reading. The foreign language version of the story enforces the values of written text and knowing more than one language.
The Prism Phonics: I Love My . . . series will contain ten books. The first 5 books are intentionally written with the same rhythmic and repetitive style, and are intended for students in grades K-2. The last 5 books are written in various rhythmic styles, and are intended for students in grades 3-5. All stories are moral and wholesome, and each story concludes with a felicitous Bible verse.
Prism Phonics: I Love My Dad
A four-year old Mexican boy describes how he loves his father. They experience simple pleasures in their modern, modest home in Mexico City. The son shows his father many interesting objects he's found on the ground as they walk to the playground. As they walk along the crosswalk hand in hand, the son escapes his father's grip to run to the playground, but for such dangerous behavior they return home. Before siesta, they enjoy a snack and a Bible story.
