Towards the end of Christ's ministry it was not in the gist of things but He openly announced the doom of the Old Testament and auto candidacy on the ideals of being sons of the Patriarch but demanded that Israel do that doing good. Where things were more valued by the congregation leadership than the actual most important attributes of God like love and mercy. They did lust after sacrifices and fattening their pockets by taking advantage of the ignorance of the people with what belonged to God.
The thing with the language and audacity of John and Jesus Christ is that they came to replace who by a system of rule rather than clergy mandate did stand before the people. They took the congregation of God for pawns and they played lords over them. So, He did change the narrative of the imputation because of genealogy and rank. He requested them to come down the high horse of the borrowed things and to come in to the true covenant that God is giving them. They had to see and to know all things they trusted in like family line and education and rank were but earthly and they had to look in to the true heavenly things.
Hebrews 10:1-4 KJV For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? Because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
The blood of bulls were like a rent or borrowed field or vineyard when upon letting or being let to one; one has to pay the same rent continually. There had to be a true Covenant not one set in the shadow of the true things. Not set in the blood of the beasts for they could not make anyone clean. So, He came and had them reminded; that the Heir is due and He is the owner of the vineyard not them.
There is a thing that without much ado one can tell. Christ did come when the Old Testament was ripe to be plucked up and replaced. The men trusted with were no longer set at the will or work of God but we're now like peacocks parading their pomp and class rather than pick the weak among the flocks and strengthening them. They instead had varnishing systems that did lift them the much and the more for occasions and formalities before the people rather than the humility in serving God.
