This is the first English edition of a book about one of the most remarkable Polish ocean voyages.
In 1998 Arkadiusz Pawelek crossed the Atlantic alone on a small sailing dinghy called Cena Strachu (Price of Fear). No crew. No support. No safety net. Just a tiny boat, an immense ocean, and a man fully responsible for every mile he sailed.
This is not a story built on bravado. It is a day-by-day account of fatigue, doubt, and the quiet determination required to keep going when turning back is no longer an option. The sea is never a backdrop here - it is an active presence, testing both boat and sailor.
For this voyage Pawelek received in Poland the Conrad Award, and the book itself was honored with Poland's Leonid Teliga Award for maritime literature.
