This is the story of a true iconoclast, a guy who always thought, Tell me which way the crowd is going, and I want to go in the opposite direction. An interesting against the grain life. A cursory account would include sixteen intermittent years of full-time day college, leading to a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and a Ph. D. at the age of fifty-two; roughly twenty-one different jobs, including flight attendant, insurance salesman, iron worker, bartender, welder, stockbroker, pipe fitter, ocean lifeguard (30 summers), taxi driver, and, finally, college professor, just to mention a few; married for the first time at the age of sixty-two, and becoming a father for the first time at the age of sixty-three. Now at 80, I'm looking forward to what the next twenty years will bring.
