Predicting The Present is a thorough examination of the Major Arcana of the Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot deck from an initiatic, developmental, and contemplative standpoint. Author Daniel Allen Kelley, himself an initiate of Western Hermeticism for over two decades, consolidates his vast experience and knowledge of the Grades of initiation, spiritual crises, and the Wisdom Traditions of the world using the twenty-two trumps Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot deck as a canvas. Drawing on the teachings of Aleister Crowley, Friedrich Nietzsche, Integral Developmental Psychology, Sri Aurobindo, Shree Rajneesh, Jiddu Krishnamurti, G.I. Gurdjieff, and the Knowledge and Conversation of his own Holy Guardian Angel, Kelley guides the reader through the three ages of spiritual evolution and their respective Worldviews to the edge of the Abyss of Knowledge, most powerfully illustrated in the eighteenth trump, The Moon. There are many competing titles which take the Crowley Thoth Tarot as their subject matter, but few of them with the scope and breadth of understanding as Predicting The Present! In this book you'll learn: - The Kabbalistic, Alchemical, Hermetic, and Magickal framework of the Major Arcana of the Thoth Tarot.- How each card in the Major Arcana interacts with the others, and the story they tell.- Creative shortcuts for understanding how the Minor Arcana relates to the Major Arcana, thereby increasing your interpretive dexterity in a Reading.- Fresh interpretations of Thelemic documents, with an eye to how they relate to the Major Arcana of the Thoth Tarot.- The Three Phases of psychospiritual development and their projection into the format of the Major Arcana of the Thoth deck.- The spiritual applications and meaning behind the 22 trumps.- An easy-to-read explanation of the spiritual ordeal known as The Crossing of the Abyss (the Dark Night of the Soul) and how it applies to the 22 trumps.- A critical deconstruction of the spiritual philosophies symbolized by each of the 22 trumps, as defined by some of the most controversial sages in the modern and postmodern world.- An introduction to Animitariomancy: a system of Tarot divination designed by the author.- A compelling look at the psychedelic, oneironautic, and even vampiric dimension of some of the trumps. And much more!
