Two retired friends buy a little beach cottage.
A mysterious glowing door appears on the wall.
The door is a portal that transports them back in time.

Frank Netherwood and Grant Bjornson, who are lifelong friends, have purchased a fishing cottage on the beach in North Florida. Fishing has long been a favorite pastime of theirs and the old cottage looks like a perfect retreat location for rest and relaxation. On their very first night in the new getaway, a blue, glowing door suddenly materializes in the wall. The doorway is filled with mist but carries the wonderful scent of a chilly pine forest into their Florida environment. The men assume they're probably only dreaming and choose to step into the mist and are somehow delivered to Ancient Scandinavia amongst Nordic Vikings. They quickly find themselves involved in a dangerous mission with several interesting local warriors and one important priest. Their mission includes befriending and serving King Harald Bluetooth.

THE PORTAL is a fanciful story about an opportunity for two modern men to have a real adventure that eventually makes an indelible mark in history. It is the first installment in The Unlikely Travelers Series.
