Scientific Essay from the year 2026 in the subject Politics - Miscellaneous, language: Portuguese, abstract: The New State political regimes imposed on Portugal (Estado Novo), Spain(Nuevo Estado), and Greece (Neon Kratos) in the 1920s and 1930s were by no means accidental political events. In fact, they were due to the overt or latent British initiative and aimed, in theory, at the containment of the Communists but actually at Russians' stopping. For, unlike what was expected, Russia had not collapsed after the Bolshevists acceded to power. Quite the contrary! As early as the mid-1920s, the spreading of the Communist ideology throughout Europe involved the danger of a Russian descent on the Mediterranean seashore; and that meant that -according to the famous theory of Sir Halford Mackinder- the Soviet Union, i.e. Russia, was to fight once more for global rule.
