Now that I am old, memories of special places and special people tend to visit me more often. Mostly memories of my youth, before computers or cell phones; at a time when kids created great adventures all day and then dreamed of even more incredible adventures at night.
Pontiac's Horse was created from my memories of Union Lake in Pontiac Michigan; where my family lived for a few truly magical years in the early 1960's. The story is a combination of fact and fiction, that once I began writing; I could not discern where one left off and the other began.
Occasionally Dream Walker still comes for me in my sleep and takes me back to those marvelous few summers when we lived in our bare feet and bathing suites, and nothing was impossible.
