Please Don't Pet My Dog is a heartwarming picture book that helps young readers understand the important role service dogs play while encouraging kindness, empathy, and inclusion.
When Jake notices Scout, a friendly-looking dog at the playground, all he wants to do is give him a hug. But Scout isn't just a pet. He's Hanna's service dog, and he's hard at work helping Hannah navigate the world safely.
As Jake learns why it's important not to pet or distract a working service dog, he discovers one of the greatest ways to show kindness: respecting someone's independence. Through engaging storytelling and gentle illustrations, children will gain a better understanding of disabilities, service dogs, and how small acts of consideration can make a big difference.
Perfect for classrooms, libraries, families, and anyone who loves dogs. Please Don't Pet My Dog opens the door to meaningful conversations about acceptance, friendship, and seeing the world through someone else's eyes. Because sometimes the kindest thing you can do is simply let a service dog do its job.
