When children understand their rights, they begin to understand their power to make a difference. Set in a residential colony preparing for Republic Day, A Play for Republic Day follows a group of children from diverse backgrounds as they come together to learn about the values that shape India's democracy. Through conversations, questions, and shared experiences, they explore ideas of justice, freedom, fairness, and equality-not as distant concepts, but as principles that matter in their everyday lives. As they prepare for a special Republic Day performance, the children discover how the Indian Constitution connects to their own experiences and why every citizen, regardless of age, has a role to play in building a better society. Written with honesty and hope, this engaging story encourages young readers to think about their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of respecting others. It is a thoughtful introduction to constitutional values and a celebration of the voices of children who dare to imagine a fairer and more inclusive India. A Play for Republic Day is an inspiring read for children, parents, and educators who believe that understanding citizenship begins with understanding one another.
