Plato and the Older Academy is a book written by Eduard Zeller, a German philosopher and historian. The book is a comprehensive study of the philosophy of Plato and his followers in the Academy, a school of philosophy founded by Plato in Athens. Zeller explores the development of Plato's thought and the evolution of the Academy after his death, focusing on the period from 347 to 270 BC, which is known as the Older Academy. The book covers a range of topics, including Plato's metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and political philosophy, as well as the teachings of his successors, such as Speusippus, Xenocrates, and Polemo. Zeller provides a detailed analysis of the texts and ideas of the Older Academy, examining their historical context and their influence on later philosophical movements. The book is a valuable resource for scholars and students of ancient philosophy, as well as anyone interested in the history of ideas. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
