Liza Hochstetler loves her job at Valley Gifts, especially during the Christmas season. However, at nineteen, she has yet to be courted, and her mother worries that her time at the store is taking away from the young girl's chances at love. So when Susan Mast offers to help matchmake Liza with her nephew, Noah, Liza's mother agrees to the plan. However, the matching must be carried out in secret, because Liza would surely object to any such meddling, no matter how well-intentioned.
But the first meeting between Noah and Liza does not go well, and neither do the second or third. Though Liza usually enjoys helping customers choose just the right purchases at Valley Gifts, Noah doesn't seem to understand her passion for helping find the perfect gift. And instead of growing closer, the two young people find themselves at odds. Is it possible this match is doomed to fail, before it even begins?
But the holiday season is a special time, and often brings us gifts that were in our possession all along.
