The novel Our Decline takes shape on the border between realism and surrealism, and with a bitter, unsparing tone, probes the fractured layers of both the individual and society. It is a work set on the threshold of revolution, in an aristocratic yet decaying atmosphere where reality turns into nightmare, and characters vanish one by one into the depths of time, soil, and illusion. With traces of existentialist literature, the novel shows how the defenseless human being, in the absence of love and meaning, enacts the burial-alive of both self and other. Our Decline, while a personal tragedy, is also a reflection of collective collapse- the story of people who are buried not only in history, but in the heart of a garden. Peyman Yarian, born in 1971 in western Iran, began his cultural work after receiving his high school diploma at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, where he nurtured the imagination and creativity of the younger generation as a cultural instructor. At the same time, his collaborations with newspapers such as Etemad and several local publications in Sanandaj introduced him to the fields of journalism and literary criticism. During this period, he published various works, including short-story collections, a novel, and a dictionary of names. After emigrating, he continued working with overseas publications and released books such as The Crows, Book Burning, and Jean. He has also been active in the Dutch press, and two short-story collections in Dutch have been published under his name. Alongside his literary and journalistic endeavors, Yarian has also worked as a nurse with elderly patients suffering from Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
