Based on years of interviews with Abbas Amir-Entezam, extensive personal correspondence, archival documents, court records, letters, and historical research, journalist and author Roozbeh Mirebrahimi reconstructs the life of a man whose personal story became inseparable from the political history of contemporary Iran.
The book follows Amir-Entezam's journey from his youth during the national movement led by Mohammad Mossadegh, through his involvement in the National Resistance Movement and the Freedom Movement of Iran, to his service in Iran's Provisional Government after the 1979 Revolution. It then examines his arrest, trial, life sentence, decades of imprisonment, repeated efforts to obtain a fair retrial, and his determination to defend his reputation until the end of his life.
More than a political biography, this book is an exploration of memory, justice, political responsibility, and the human consequences of history. Rather than presenting Abbas Amir-Entezam as either a hero or a villain, the author seeks to understand him as a complex individual living through extraordinary historical circumstances.
