The premonition of her son's early death was ignored as Rosina Guerra went about day-to-day life as a mother. He thrived through his young life before the unthinkable happened. Out of nowhere, a deadly virus attacked his brain and his life as he knew it was over.
People Like Us is a series of vignettes, written by a mother dealing with grief while holding her family together, working as a teacher and artist, and creating Lorencito Mio, a documentary about a young San Diegan bodybuilder's life as told through a love poem written for him by his mother, and expressed by the people whose lives he touched and loved so much.
Despite the tragedy, Rosina forged the courage to share her son's story, along with her personal thoughts and feelings in People Like Us: A Love Story to My Children.
