Since the institutionalization of the State-system, peace and security have been the most important elements to guarantee cooperation among States. The end of the First World War in 1918 witnessed the creation of the League of Nations and the Second World War witnessed the death of the League of Nations. The demise of the League of Nations gave birth to the UN in 1945 to foster international peace, security and cooperation among States. In order to achieve global peace and security, the UN works in collaboration with the EU, the AU and its RECs and other regional bodies. In post-independence Africa, internal armed conflicts are great challenges not only to States, but to the UN, the AU and its sub-regional bodies. Political instability in the CAR results from competition for power and resources and the depth of democratic practices. This led to a conflict that poses threats to international peace and security. Military Intervention though it is not inscribed in the UN Charter as a means of resolving conflicts, it is increasingly being used as a conflict resolution tool.
