Early Evidence of Paul's Enslavement Explained
There is evidence from the days of the early church that the apostle Paul was once a slave and that he and his family originated in Gischala, one of several Galilean cities that rebelled against Rome after they seized control of Palestine. Josephus referred to these rebels as Zealots.

Mark R. Fairchild (PhD, Drew University) is a retired professor of Bible and religion at Huntington University and a Fulbright Scholar. He is the author of Christian Origins in Ephesus and Asia Minor and The Underwater Basilica of Nicaea: Archaeology in the Birthplace of Christian Theology.
