For all those veterans suffering with PTSD or survivor's guilt that need some type of care other than medication, I wholeheartedly suggest getting a service dog. My recommendation would be a German shepherd. I got my first German shepherd as a pup, who I named Bullet, from a breeder in Tennessee. I had him professionally trained by Dameon Berry with East Tennessee K-9 LLC, a disabled dog trainer in a mobile wheelchair. The man was incredible with all breeds of dogs. Bullet was dedicated and never left my side. This was a dog that understood everything I said to him and comforted me in my times of despair.
The unfortunate part of this story is that he developed a tumor on his spleen, and after several hours of surgery and five thousand dollars, he didn't make it. This put me in a severe state of depression. Thankfully, my two children, Raymond and Christine, bought me another boy to take his place. I can't thank them enough for their concern. Rambo is now picking up where Bullet left off.
These dogs are so amazing. I could never live without a German shepherd, and to my fellow patriots who may be having a hard time, get a German shepherd service dog. They are truly a treasure sent by God.
