Suicide as a Leitmotif Sucks

With the death of one of his few friends- his chronically depressed apartment-mate Eliza- Gaius Mahler finds himself spinning wildly out of control. He hears the music of Steve Reich in blood dripping down the walls; his mind traps him inside an 8-bit video game; and his best friend, the ghost of Ludwig van Beethoven, vanishes.

Never the sanest of people to begin with, Gaius finds his mental make-up pushed to the breaking point. Eliza is the third person in his life to take their life by suicide, but the first since his parents shuffled loose the mortal coil. More than that though is the guilt coursing through Gaius's veins and weighing heavily on his heart.

In between departures from reality, Gaius finds himself planning a funeral with Eliza's designated hook-up Ernest. Despite believing it to be the best way to move on and start to heal, Gaius will soon learn that this death is one that cannot be so easily escaped.
