The violence and loss that innocent people suffer in places like Sudan, Venezuela and the Middle East break our hearts. The Path and the Peacemakers chronicles the saga of the Shining Path terrorist war that ravaged the South American country during the 1980s and 90s. Violence claimed tens of thousands of lives and threatened to destroy Peruvian society itself. Shining Path would have succeeded, experts say, had it not been for Peru's Christians. Followers of Jesus deployed an arsenal of prayer, forgiveness and witness to truth. This book chronicles some of their experiences, such as: A missionary family's traumatic kidnapping at the hands of the Shining Path, a saga that ends in extraordinary forgiveness and reconciliation.
The Quicaña-Sauñe family, Quechua-speaking Christians from Ayacucho who confront terrorism with little more than their strong belief in the power of God's Word.
The Ashaninka, who preserved their tribal way of life through a bilingual school system and a strong evangelical church, until Shining Path bore down on them.
